Must make a point of stopping in asap then! Enjoyed the Coppeneur bars I’ve had & the Escazu bars are also quite nice. That Schwarbier or black beer sounds goooood(as I remember their chocolate, it would support notes of toasted malt & coffee nicely). Oh recently had 1/2 of a Hot Chocolate Chocophilia bar with the St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout http://www.mcauslan.com/en/ourbeers/sta_stout.htm at The Sugarbowl, wonderful pairing(imho).

Darrell, I’m snacking on the Schwarzbier bar now, and Coppeneur’s chocolate certainly supports the flavours.

Definitely going to try a chocolate bar with the St. Ambroise Stout next time I’m at Sugarbowl. Excellent idea.

Maybe a beer and chocolate tasting is in order soon…

Actually Marianne I’m looking forward to trying various chocolates with a few of the darker Unibroue beers(Noir de Chambly, Trois Pistoles or possibly the Maudite-which I’m really impressed with-it has to warm a bit though) http://www.unibroue.com/en/beers/family/actuelles …if their website is up to date, The Sugarbowl has all three.

And I’m sure the Schwarzbier would probably go nicely with either the Oatmeal Stout, a few others on the ‘bowl’s beer list or I think either the Rochefort 6 or 8 at Da Capo(they were both quite chocolatey if I’m not mistaken). Oh & certainly-or at least most likely-Dieu du Ciel’s Peche Mortel-another one that really impressed me http://www.dieuduciel.com/en/beers.php …hard to say, the 2 coffees might clash a bit – I’d be willing to try the pairing though!
